AI Maternity Photoshoot: 12 Prompts for Studio, Silhouette and Ultrasound Shots
One photo is enough for an AI maternity photoshoot: 12 ready prompts for studio, beach, home, field, silhouette, couple and ultrasound shots. We tested them in Gemini with 30 images; when we left the outfit out, the old jeans stayed under the new dress.

- One photo that shows your face and belly is enough for an AI maternity photoshoot. We tried 4 concepts in Gemini with two models, using a short prompt and a structured prompt, 16 times in total; the small mole above the lip stayed in place in 16 of 16 images.
- Describe the outfit from top to bottom. Nano Banana 2 left the jeans from the input photo under the new dress or shirt in 3 of 8 images. Lite never did this.
- The line "show the belly in side profile" made Nano Banana 2 open the shirt or fabric and leave the belly bare in 2 of 4 images. If you want the belly covered, write that the fabric covers it.
- In the couple shot, two separate photos merged into one frame, and the ultrasound printout appeared on the paper exactly as given. Lite added unreadable, made-up lines of text to the corners of the paper.
- The "what will the baby look like when born" photo, requested from the same ultrasound image, showed a different baby every time. This is not a prediction; even so, Gemini described the image in one of its replies as "a realistic prediction".
To do an AI maternity photoshoot, upload a single photo that shows your face and your belly from the side to Gemini or ChatGPT and paste one of the prompts below. The studio, beach, home and wheat field concepts kept the face on the first try. The trouble spot was the outfit: anything you leave out of the prompt, the model carries over from the input photo.
We ran our own test on October 21, 2026, using the original Turkish versions of these prompts. With Gemini Pro we generated three inputs: a fictional woman seven months pregnant (a small mole above her lip, a gray T-shirt and jeans), a fictional man (a scar on his chin) and an ultrasound image. From these we produced 27 images with Gemini's two image models, 30 in total with the inputs. We could not test ChatGPT in this round; the prompts work with the same text in both tools.
How to Do an AI Maternity Photoshoot: 5 Steps
- Pick the photo. Your face should point at the camera and your belly should show from the side or at a three-quarter angle; a fitted T-shirt showed the line of the belly best. A mirror selfie works, as long as your face is not hidden behind the phone.
- Pick the concept: studio (Prompt 1), beach (Prompt 2), home (Prompt 3), field (Prompt 4), bare belly (Prompt 5), couple (Prompts 6-7), silhouette (Prompt 8), family (Prompt 9), announcement (Prompt 10).
- Fill in the square brackets. Name one or two marks such as a mole, dimple, necklace or tattoo; these are what the model holds on to most for identity.
- Describe the outfit from top to bottom. If you describe the top and leave the bottom blank, the pants from the input photo come back into the image.
- Look closely at the result: hands and finger count, people in the background you did not ask for, made-up text on papers. Ask for the fix in the same chat with one sentence.
Describing only the dress. In the test we wrote "loose white cotton shirt" and did not mention pants; Nano Banana 2 put the light blue jeans from the input back under the shirt in three images. A line like "cream linen pants underneath" closes that gap.
Maternity Photoshoot Prompts: 12 Ready Prompts for Gemini and ChatGPT
Change the fields in square brackets to fit you and leave the rest as is. For directions we say "viewer's left": if you write "mole on my left cheek", the model cannot tell whose left you mean. Under each prompt we wrote what happened in the test, or that we did not test it.
1) Studio maternity photoshoot: dark backdrop, silk fabric
Create a studio maternity photoshoot with the woman in the photo I uploaded.
Identity: keep her face, [the small mole above her lip], [her wavy chestnut-brown hair] and [her thin gold necklace] as in the photo. The belly's size and shape match the photo: do not enlarge it, do not shrink it.
Outfit: [cream silk fabric] flowing from her shoulders to the floor. The fabric covers the belly, the belly shows clearly from the side under the fabric; the fabric falls to her ankles, her legs are under the fabric.
Scene: plain dark charcoal backdrop, the fabric's train on the floor.
Pose: side stance, both hands under her belly, face turned to the camera, slight smile.
Light: a single soft light coming from the viewer's left.
Like a real photo, vertical 3:4, five fingers on each hand. The short version came out clean in both models. In the structured version we had written "show the belly in side profile"; Nano Banana 2 opened the fabric, left the belly bare and put the jeans from the input underneath. That is why we added the line saying the fabric covers the belly and legs; we did not run a separate test with that line.
2) Sunset beach maternity photoshoot
Create a maternity photoshoot on the beach at sunset with the woman in the photo I uploaded.
Identity: keep her face, [the mole above her lip] and [her hair] as in the photo; the belly is the same size as in the photo.
Outfit: an ankle-length [white tulle dress] blowing in the wind; the dress covers the belly.
Scene: an empty beach [in Cesme], her feet on wet sand, only the sea and the setting sun behind her.
Pose: side stance, one hand on her belly, face turned to the camera.
Light: warm, golden evening light, the sun behind her on the viewer's right.
Like a real photo, vertical 3:4.With the short prompt, Nano Banana 2 put three strangers walking on the beach; with the structured prompt, boats on the horizon. Lite drew an empty beach in both versions. The "empty beach" and city name lines were added after the test.
3) Maternity photo at home in window light
Create a maternity photoshoot at home in window light with the woman in the photo I uploaded.
Identity: keep her face, [the mole above her lip], [her hair] and [her necklace] as in the photo; the belly is the same size as in the photo.
Outfit: a loose [white cotton shirt], buttons closed, the belly shows clearly under the shirt; [cream linen pants] underneath, bare feet.
Scene: in front of a large window with sheer curtains, [a green potted plant] beside her.
Pose: side stance, both hands on her belly, face turned to the camera.
Light: soft daylight filtering through the sheer curtains.
Like a real photo, vertical 3:4.This scene had the most leaks: Nano Banana 2 kept the input jeans in both images and, with the structured prompt, opened the shirt's buttons. Both of Lite's images were clean. The pants and button lines were written after this result and were not tested.
4) Wheat field shoot with a daisy crown
Create a maternity photoshoot in a wheat field with the woman in the photo I uploaded.
Identity: keep her face, [the mole above her lip] and [her wavy hair] as in the photo; the belly is the same size as in the photo.
Outfit: an ankle-length [light beige linen summer dress], [a daisy crown] on her head.
Scene: a ripe wheat field [in Eskisehir], low hills on the horizon.
Pose: side stance, one hand on top of her belly, the other under it, face turned to the camera.
Light: late afternoon, the sun behind her on the viewer's right, the edge of her hair glowing.
Like a real photo, vertical 3:4.All four images were clean; in one image Lite added red poppies to the field. Since the crown did not cover the hair, the mole and hair color were easy to make out.
5) Bare belly studio pose
Take a bare-belly studio maternity photo of the woman in the photo I uploaded.
Identity: keep her face, [the mole above her lip] and [her hair] as in the photo; the belly's size and shape match the photo.
Outfit: a [white linen shirt] resting on her shoulders, open at the front, belly bare; a [long nude skirt] below, the skirt starts under the belly.
Scene: plain [bone-colored] backdrop.
Pose: side stance, one hand on top of her belly, the other under it, face turned to the camera.
Light: soft light from the viewer's right, a thin highlight along the edge of the belly.
Like a real photo, vertical 3:4, five fingers on each hand.We did not test this prompt on its own. Nano Banana 2 drew a bare-belly image unprompted twice; the input jeans stayed in both, which is why we spelled out the bottom half of the outfit item by item here.
6) Couple: hands forming a heart on the belly
Show the pregnant woman in the first photo and the man in the second photo in the same frame in a maternity photoshoot.
Identity: keep the woman's face, [the mole above her lip], [her hair] and [her gold necklace], and the man's face, [his beard] and [the small scar on his chin] as in their own photos. The belly is the same size as in the first photo.
Outfit: the woman in a [fitted cream knit dress], the man in a [white shirt and beige pants].
Scene: a simple cream-toned room, a bare wall behind them.
Pose: the man stands behind the woman, their hands form a heart shape on top of her belly, both look at the camera.
Like a real photo, vertical 3:4, five fingers on each of the four hands. The test version had no outfit line. Both models built the heart correctly, and the mole and scar were in place in both images; but both also carried over the woman's gray T-shirt and jeans, and even the living room from the input. That is why we added the outfit and scene lines.
7) Couple: holding the ultrasound printout
Show the pregnant woman in the first photo and the man in the second photo side by side [in a park, in autumn light].
Identity: keep their faces, [the mole above the woman's lip] and [the scar on the man's chin] as in their own photos; the belly is the same as in the first photo.
Paper: the man holds a paper printout of the ultrasound image from the third photo with both hands at chest height, facing the camera. The image on the paper is identical to the third photo; the white edges of the paper are plain, with no text or numbers on the edges.
Pose: the woman has one hand on her belly, both smile at the camera.
Like a real photo, vertical 3:4.Upload a photo of your own ultrasound printout as the third photo. In the test both models placed the image on the paper in a recognizable way; Lite added unreadable lines of text imitating a hospital printout to the top corners of the paper. The "no text or numbers on the edges" line was added after that.
8) Maternity silhouette photo
Create a silhouette maternity photo of the woman in this photo: she stands in side profile in front of a large, bright window, with the light coming from behind her.
The woman and her belly are an almost completely black silhouette; [her ponytail], the line of her nose and lips, and the curve of her belly are clearly defined. The room is dark.
The belly is the same size as in the photo. Like a real photo, vertical 3:4.It worked on the first try in both models: window behind, woman in side profile, ponytail and belly curve visible inside the black. Since the face does not show, it barely matters which photo you upload; the hairstyle is the only mark left that carries identity.
9) Family: a child listening to mom's belly
Show the people in the [3] photos I uploaded in the same frame in a family maternity photoshoot at home: photo 1 is the pregnant mother, photo 2 is the father, photo 3 is [our 4-year-old daughter].
Keep everyone's face, hair and marks such as [glasses, a mole, a dimple] as in their own photo; the belly is the same size as in photo 1.
Pose: the mother sits on the sofa; the child kneels beside her with an ear pressed to her mother's belly; the father stands behind the sofa with both hands on the mother's shoulders.
Outfit: everyone in simple clothes in [cream and beige tones].
Like a real photo, horizontal 4:3.Not tested. In our family photo test, facial marks held for up to five people; what went wrong was who sat where, so we wrote out one by one who sits and who stands. ChatGPT does not edit realistic photos of children, so use this prompt in Gemini.
10) "Baby on the way" announcement shot
Create a pregnancy announcement photo shot from above.
On a light linen cloth: a paper printout of the ultrasound image I uploaded, a pair of [white knitted baby booties], [dried eucalyptus branches] and a small cream card that says "[Baby on the way · March 2027]" in handwriting.
The card says only this, with every letter present and correctly spelled. No text on the edges of the ultrasound paper.
Soft daylight, like a real photo, square 1:1.Not tested. In our wedding test, Turkish text of two or three words was spelled correctly by all four Gemini models; keep the text short and check the letters one by one in the output.
11) Imagined baby photo from an ultrasound
Using this ultrasound image as inspiration, draw an imagined, realistic photo of a newborn baby.
The baby is wrapped in [a white muslin blanket], sleeping, soft window light, [a wooden crib] in the background.
I know this image does not show the baby's real face; do not add any claim of prediction or resemblance. Square 1:1.In the test we asked, "What will the baby in this ultrasound look like when born?" Three saved images from the same scan showed three different babies; details below. That is why we framed the prompt as "imagined"; we did not test this version.
12) Caption for a maternity photo
Write an Instagram caption for our pregnancy photo.
Details: [7th month], [our first baby], in the photo [I'm with my partner], tone [simple and warm].
Give 5 options: each at most 2 sentences and at most 2 emojis. If I did not write the baby's sex, name or due date, do not make them up.
At the end, add a short line of 3 hashtags.Text prompt, not tested. The sex and date line is there so the model does not add a detail it cannot know, like "our daughter we'll hold in March".
If Gemini refuses to edit a photo, do not force the prompt; try a different photo. ChatGPT does not edit realistic photos of children, so try the shot with a child in Gemini. Do not use these prompts to make someone else look pregnant: a fake pregnancy image can put that person in a genuinely difficult position.
Our Test: Short Prompt or Structured Prompt?

We gave each concept in two forms. The short prompt was a single sentence naming the scene and outfit, like the prompts people share on social media. In the structured prompt we added a block at the end that protected the face, mole, hair and necklace, fixed the belly's size and said "show the belly in side profile". We ran both versions with Nano Banana 2 Lite, the model on accounts without a plan, and with Nano Banana 2, the model on paid plans.
| What we measured | Lite, short | Lite, structured | Nano Banana 2, short | Nano Banana 2, structured |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mole above the lip in place | 4/4 | 4/4 | 4/4 | 4/4 |
| Side stance, face to camera | 4/4 | 4/4 | 4/4 | 4/4 |
| Input jeans appeared in the image | 0/4 | 0/4 | 1/4 | 2/4 |
| Belly bared without being asked | 0/4 | 0/4 | 0/4 | 2/4 |
| Person or object added to the background | 0/4 | 1/4 (poppies) | 1/4 (3 people) | 1/4 (boat) |
| Average time | 9.1 s | 9.1 s | 14.5 s | 14.5 s |
The identity block changed nothing about the face in this test: the mole was in place in 8 of 8 images with the short prompt too. The difference showed up in the outfit. Nano Banana 2 read the structured prompt's "show the belly" line as "bare the belly" twice; Lite never did. We compared belly size with the input side by side, by eye; in none of the 16 images did it noticeably grow or shrink relative to the body.
Couple Shot: Two Photos and an Ultrasound Printout

- Identity: the woman's mole and the scar on the man's chin were in place in 4 of 4 images. The scar stayed as a thin line inside the beard, visible when you look closely.
- Heart: both models joined the four hands into a correct heart shape on the belly; we saw no errors in finger count.
- Outfit and setting: since we did not write an outfit in the prompt, both models carried over the woman's gray T-shirt and jeans and the man's green jacket. In the heart image, the living room from the input came back even though we asked for a "cream-toned room".
- Ultrasound: both models placed the image we gave them on the paper at the same angle and in the same form. Lite added unreadable lines of text imitating a hospital printout to the top corners of the paper; Nano Banana 2's paper was clean.
Can AI Show Your Baby's Face from an Ultrasound?

No. We gave the same ultrasound image three times with the question "what will the baby look like when born" and got three different babies: one with thick dark hair, one with sparse light hair, and a different nose and face shape in every image. So the model draws a generic newborn photo from scratch on every request.
The interesting part was how the model described its own work. We sent the same request to Nano Banana 2 five times: an image came back four times, text only once. One of the replies with an image described it as "a realistic prediction of what the baby might look like when born". That is why we built Prompt 11 around "imagined" and "do not add any claim of resemblance".
Which Model Runs in Gemini? Free vs. Paid Accounts
| Account | Model that draws the image | What happened in our maternity test |
|---|---|---|
| No plan (free) | Mostly Nano Banana 2 Lite | Outfit clean in 8 of 8 concept images, fastest (9.1 s); made-up text on the ultrasound paper |
| Paid plan, Flash or Pro setting | Nano Banana 2 | Jeans leak 3/8, belly bared without being asked 2/8, strangers on the beach |
| Paid plan, "Redo with Pro" | Nano Banana Pro | In this round we only made the inputs with it, no concept test |
| API (developer) | All three can be selected | 1K image: $0.034 / $0.067 / $0.134 |
According to Google's help page, accounts without a plan have run only on the "Auto" setting since October 9, 2026, and most image requests go to Nano Banana 2 Lite. In this test the free account's model made fewer outfit errors. The test's API cost, including the inputs, was about $1.80.
What to Write in a Maternity Photo Caption
A short sentence, plus the month if you like, is enough; the date, sex and name go in only if you have decided to share them. A few examples we wrote ourselves:
- Month seven. We're three now, one of us still inside.
- We meet in March. For now we talk through kicks.
- This belly will keep growing for a while, and we'll add one photo every month.
- That tiny profile on the ultrasound became the most talked-about person in the house.
Before You Share: Turkey's KVKK Law and AI Watermarks
In the couple and family shots you also upload photos of your partner and your child. Article 28/1-a of KVKK, Turkey's personal data protection law, excludes from the law a person's personal activities concerning themselves or family members living in the same household; a photo of a friend or relative may fall outside that scope. The KVKK authority's Generative AI guide dated November 2025 (p. 57) recommends taking care not to share data belonging to third parties with these systems.
Gemini puts an invisible SynthID mark on every image. If you made your pregnancy announcement with AI, saying so in the caption is enough; relatives may take the image for a real shoot and ask who the photographer was.
Upload a photo that shows your face and belly to Gemini or ChatGPT and paste one of the prompts in this article. Describe the outfit from top to bottom; in the test, pants we did not mention came back from the input photo.
It is the text you paste into Gemini to describe the scene, outfit, pose and light. Prompts 1-4 were tested in Gemini in their original Turkish wording; for identity, naming one or two marks such as a mole or a necklace was enough.
Yes, you can paste the same text into ChatGPT. In this round we tested only Gemini. ChatGPT does not edit realistic photos of children, so the family shot with a child (Prompt 9) will not work there.
No. Three attempts with the same ultrasound image produced three different babies. The result is an imagined newborn photo and does not mean your baby will look like it.
Use Prompt 8: put the window behind the woman, place her in side profile and ask for the silhouette to stay black. In the test it worked on the first try in both models.
Yes, you can do it with a Gemini account that has no plan; on that account the image is mostly drawn by Nano Banana 2 Lite, which made the fewest outfit errors in the test. Paid plans have a higher daily usage limit.
If you want a family shot with the same people after the birth, our family photo article has prompts we tested with up to five people; general photo prompts for Gemini are in a separate article.
On your next try, read the image from the bottom up. Every error in our test was below the waist or along the edges: a jeans hem, a bare belly, a boat on the horizon, text in the corner of the paper.
