Gemini Newborn Photoshoot AI Prompts: 11 Concepts From Your Baby's Photo (2026)
11 Gemini newborn photoshoot prompts: swaddle, wicker basket, baby with open eyes, family portrait, birth announcement card, first month card, froggy pose and feet detail. Across 114 requests, a short prompt made up the date and weight on 10 of 10 birth cards; our prompt with the lines in quotation marks got 11 of 12 right.

- When we asked for a birth card without giving its text ("her name is Ela, add her birth details"), Gemini made up the birth date and weight in 10 of 10 images and added a time to 9 of them; most of the dates were from 2023 and 2024.
- Prompt 7, which gives the lines in quotation marks, wrote the card letter for letter in 11 of 12 tries.
- With a short prompt, a baby with open eyes was drawn asleep in 3 of 12 tries; Prompt 4 kept the eyes open in 12 of 12.
- When the prompt said "bare head," two models each drew the baby bald in one image. With the sentence "no hat on the head, the hair is visible" we got hair in 6 of 6.
- You must be 18 or older to edit photos in the Gemini app, so upload your baby's photo from your own adult account.
A phone photo of a baby lying on a bed at home, with two small pink spots on the forehead, turned into a studio shot in a cream swaddle in 6 to 18 seconds with a Gemini newborn photoshoot prompt. The spots stayed on the forehead and the hair stayed too. The trouble showed up elsewhere: the model wrote its own date on the birth card, closed the eyes of a baby whose eyes were open, and read "bare head" as hairless.
We tested the 11 prompts in this post on October 30, 2026 in the Gemini API with three image models: Nano Banana 2 Lite (Flash-Lite in the app), Nano Banana 2 (Flash) and Nano Banana Pro. The test prompts were written in Turkish. As input we used three fictional photos we generated with AI: a sleeping newborn with two pink spots on the forehead, a second baby with open eyes and a mole on the right cheek, and a mother and father. 114 requests returned 110 images. In every image we checked the spots, the mole, the hair and the eyes, read the text on the cards, and counted hands and fingers.
How to Do a Newborn Photoshoot With AI: 5 Steps
- Pick a sharp photo of the baby taken from above in daylight. Keep the face in the middle of the frame; if half the face is in shadow, the model will guess the marks.
- Open Gemini and upload the photo with the plus icon. For the family portrait or the hands, add the second photo too; the prompt says which one is first and which is second.
- Copy a prompt below and change what's inside the square brackets to match your baby: spots, mole, hair color, outfit.
- Send it and zoom in on the face to check the result: are the spots or the mole in place, are the eyes right, is there an extra letter on the card?
- If something drifted, fix it with one sentence without starting a new chat: "Keep the spots only in the middle of the forehead and do not change anything else."
If you don't say what goes on the card or the letter blocks, the model fills it in. In the test, all 10 cards from a short prompt had a birth date and weight we never gave, and 9 of them had a time as well. Write the details in quotation marks, one line at a time.
11 Ready-to-Use Newborn Photoshoot Prompts (Copy and Paste)
Each prompt works in a single message after you upload the photo. We ran the tests with the original Turkish prompts; the English versions below keep the same structure. The square brackets hold our test baby's marks: write in your own baby's marks and delete the brackets. The numbers under each prompt are that prompt's test result.
1) Classic swaddle prompt (sleeping baby)
Create a professional studio newborn photoshoot image using the baby in the photo I uploaded.
Baby: keep the face, skin tone, and the amount and color of hair as in the photo; [the two small pink spots on the forehead] stay in the same places. Eyes closed, sleeping.
Pose: the baby is wrapped in a thin [cream] knit swaddle, lying on their side with the face turned toward the camera; arms inside the swaddle.
Scene: a plain, wrinkle-free [light beige] fabric backdrop all the way to the edges; soft window light coming from the left as seen by the viewer; shallow depth of field.
No hat, headband or bow on the head; the hair is visible as in the photo. No text, letters, logo or watermark in the image.
Photorealistic, vertical 4:5.In the test, 6 of 6 tries gave a swaddle, a plain beige backdrop and an image with no text; no model added a beanie or a toy. The forehead spots were in place in all 6 images, though Flash turned two spots into three in two of them. Write your own baby's mark inside the square brackets, such as "redness on the bridge of the nose" or "a light patch on the left eyebrow".
2) Quick version: one-line newborn prompt
Turn this baby into a realistic studio newborn photo, sleeping in a cream swaddle on a plain beige backdrop, without changing the face or [the spots on the forehead]; no hat on the head, the hair is visible, no text in the image. The one-line version gave a cream swaddle and a plain backdrop in 6 of 6 tries, with no text. The model picks the swaddle shape and the direction of the light; if you don't like the first try, switch to Prompt 1.
3) Newborn in a wicker basket prompt
Create a newborn photo with a wicker basket concept using the baby in the photo I uploaded.
Baby: face, skin tone, hair and [the two small pink spots on the forehead] as in the photo; eyes closed, sleeping.
Scale: the baby is life-size, about 50 cm; the basket is slightly larger than the baby, and the baby lies curled up inside the basket without spilling over the rim.
Inside the basket there is a white wool blanket; the baby wears [a white knit romper].
Scene: the basket sits on a wooden floor, with a plain cream wall behind it all the way to the edges; soft daylight.
No hat, headband or bow on the head; the hair is visible as in the photo. No text, letters or logo in the image. Photorealistic, vertical 4:5.The baby was inside the basket in 6 of 6 images, and none of them drew the baby bigger than the basket or as small as a palm; the sentence "about 50 cm" kept the scale. The outfit was the white knit romper we asked for in 6 of 6. You can swap the basket for a wooden crate, a heart-shaped bowl or a small wooden bed.
4) Baby with open eyes prompt
Create a studio newborn photo using the baby in the photo I uploaded.
The baby's eyes are open as in the photo, looking toward the camera; face, skin tone, [black] hair and [the brown mole on the cheek] in the same place ([on the right cheek as seen by the viewer]).
The baby lies on their back on a [light green] knit blanket, wearing the [light green knit romper] from the photo.
Scene: a plain cream fabric backdrop all the way to the edges, shot from above, soft daylight.
No hat, headband or bow on the head; the [thick black] hair is visible as in the photo. No text or logo in the image. Photorealistic, vertical 4:5.With a short prompt this baby was drawn asleep in 3 of 12 tries. With this prompt the eyes stayed open in 12 of 12 tries, and the cheek mole was in place 12 of 12 times. In the first version we had written "bare head," and Lite and Pro each drew the baby bald in one image; with the hair sentence in the final version, the hair came out thick and black in 6 of 6 images.
5) Newborn prompt with mom and dad's hands
Create a close-up newborn photo using the baby in the first photo and the hands of the mother and father in the second photo.
The baby sleeps lying on their side on a white cloth; face, hair and [the two small pink spots on the forehead] as in the first photo.
Hands: the mother's two hands on either side of the baby's head, one of the father's hands under the baby's feet. Three hands visible in total, five fingers on each hand. The skin tone of the hands as in the second photo; [a thin gold wedding band] on the mother's and the father's hand.
No faces in the frame, only the baby and the hands.
No text or logo in the image. Photorealistic photo with soft light, horizontal 3:2.Upload two photos: the baby first, then a photo that shows the mother's and father's hands. 5 of 6 tries returned an image (Flash hit the safety filter once). All 5 images had exactly three hands and the wedding bands; in 3 of them the hands were where we described. In one image Flash drew one of the hands holding the head as a hairy man's hand.
6) Family newborn photoshoot prompt (mom, dad, baby)
Create a family newborn photoshoot image using the baby in the first photo and the mother and father in the second photo.
The mother is on the left as seen by the viewer, the father on the right; their faces, hair and [beard] as in the second photo. Both wear [white linen shirts].
The mother and father sit side by side on a bed with white sheets; the baby sleeps in the mother's arms, wrapped in a white swaddle; face and [the two small pink spots on the forehead] as in the first photo.
The mother and father are looking at the baby. Background: a plain white wall all the way to the edges, soft window light.
No text or logo in the image. Photorealistic, horizontal 3:2.In 6 of 6 images the mother sat on the left and the father on the right, both wore white shirts, and the baby was in the mother's arms. We measured face similarity for the adults: the father was above the same-person threshold in 6 of 6 images, the mother in 5. In one Lite image the mother tilted her head and the similarity dropped.
7) Newborn prompt with a birth announcement card
Create a newborn photo with a birth details card using the baby in the photo I uploaded.
Baby: face, skin tone, hair and [the two small pink spots on the forehead] as in the photo; sleeping in a white swaddle. No hat, headband or bow on the head; the hair is visible as in the photo.
Next to the baby, on the right as seen by the viewer, stands a small light wood card. The card shows only these three lines, letter for letter:
"[ELA]"
"[October 12, 2026]"
"[3,250 g · 50 cm]"
No other text, letters or numbers on the card or anywhere else in the image.
Scene: a plain light gray fabric backdrop all the way to the edges, shot from above, soft light. Photorealistic, vertical 4:5.In 11 of 12 tries all three lines were exactly right: the name, the date, the weight with its thousands separator (our Turkish test prompt wrote it as 3.250) and the middle dot. Lite once wrote the quotation marks onto the card as well ("'ELA'"); if that happens, send a second message: "remove the quotation marks, keep only ELA". Put your own details inside the square brackets and do not delete the quotation marks.
8) Monthly baby photo prompt (first month card)
Create a one-month baby photo using the baby in the photo I uploaded.
The baby lies on their back on a gray muslin blanket, eyes closed, wearing the [white onesie with ducks] from the photo. Face, skin tone, hair and [the two small pink spots on the forehead] as in the photo.
Next to the baby's head, on the left as seen by the viewer, there is a round white felt card; the card shows only this text, letter for letter: "[MY FIRST MONTH]"
No other text, numbers or letters. Shot from above, soft light. Photorealistic, vertical 4:5.In the original Turkish prompt the card said "MY FIRST MONTH" in Turkish, and it came out right in 6 of 6 tries, with the dot on the Turkish dotted capital I in place. The card was on the baby's left in 6 of 6. For the following months, change only the text in quotation marks: "2 MONTHS OLD", "MONTH 3" and so on.
9) Froggy pose newborn prompt
Create a froggy pose newborn photo using the baby in the photo I uploaded.
The baby lies on their tummy, chin resting on both hands stacked on top of each other, elbows propped on a soft pillow, eyes closed, sleeping.
Face, skin tone, hair and [the two small pink spots on the forehead] as in the photo. Five fingers on each of the two visible hands.
Under the baby there is a thin beige cloth; the back and legs are covered with a dark brown blanket that stays plain all the way to the edges; plain dark brown background, soft light from the side.
No text or logo in the image. Photorealistic, vertical 4:5.In the first version we had written "the baby is naked"; Pro refused one of 2 tries as prohibited content. Once we removed the word and covered the back with a blanket, 6 of 6 tries returned an image. In all 6 the chin was on the hands; in 2 the arms stretched out flat on the pillow, and the classic upright froggy pose showed up in 4 images.
10) Dreamy crescent moon pillow prompt
Create a dreamy concept newborn photo using the baby in the photo I uploaded.
The baby sleeps curled up on a soft, pale yellow fabric pillow shaped like a crescent moon; wearing a white knit romper; eyes closed.
Face, skin tone, hair and [the two small pink spots on the forehead] as in the photo. No hat, headband or bow on the head; the hair is visible as in the photo.
Three small white cotton clouds around the crescent; a plain [midnight blue] background all the way to the edges.
No text, letters, star names or logo in the image. Photorealistic, square 1:1.All 6 images had the crescent, a midnight blue background with no text, and a sleeping baby. The cloud count was exactly three in 5 of 6 images; Lite put four clouds in one. To change the background color, change only the square brackets.
11) Black-and-white baby feet detail prompt
Create a black-and-white close-up detail photo with the feet of the baby in the photo I uploaded.
The baby's two bare feet rest side by side in the father's two cupped palms. Five toes on each foot, five fingers on each hand; two feet and two hands visible in total.
The skin texture and shape of the feet match the baby in the photo; the father wears [a thin gold wedding band].
Background: plain dark gray all the way to the edges, soft light, shallow depth of field.
No text or logo in the image. Black and white, photorealistic photo, horizontal 3:2.All 6 images had two feet, two hands and the wedding band. The baby's face stays out of the frame in this prompt, so if the feet don't show in your photo, the model draws them itself; the skin texture still comes from the photo.
In the test, 4 requests came back without an image. One was caused by the word "naked" in the froggy pose prompt; once we removed the word and described the outfit or the blanket, it went through. Once, instead of an image, Flash wrote a reply suggesting we ask a pediatrician about the spots on the baby's forehead. If that happens, write "The spots are birthmarks, I only want the photo" in the same chat and send the prompt again.
Short Prompt or Detailed Prompt? The Numbers From 114 Requests

| Prompt | Tries | What held | Problem |
|---|---|---|---|
| Short: "Make a newborn photoshoot from this photo" (sleeping baby) | 6 | Studio look 6/6, spots on the forehead | Unrequested accessories 6/6: beanie, knit duck, rattle, dried flowers; a letter "E" on one rattle |
| Same short prompt (baby with open eyes) | 12 | Mole in place 12/12 | Eyes closed 3/12; made-up text 4/12 ("1 Month", "BABY", "WELCOME" in Turkish); outfit changed 3/12 |
| Short card: "Her name is Ela, add a card with her birth details" | 12 | Name correct 10/10 | Date and weight made up 10/10, time 9/10; English labels on 2 cards; no image for 2 requests |
| Prompts 1 and 2 (swaddle) | 12 | Swaddle, plain backdrop, no text 12/12 | Flash turned two spots into three in two images |
| Prompt 7 (card text in quotation marks) | 12 | All three lines letter for letter 11/12 | Lite also wrote the quotation marks once |
| Prompt 4 (eyes open), two versions | 12 | Eyes open 12/12, mole 12/12 | Bald baby 2/6 in the first version; hair 6/6 in the final version |
| Prompt 9 (froggy pose), two versions | 12 | Image 6/6 in the final version | First version: 1 Pro refusal because of "naked" |
The short prompt gave decent photos; the model simply picked the scene on its own. The trouble was in the text and in details that belong to the baby. When we gave the baby's name and left the details blank, the model wrote dates such as 25.10.2023, 15.05.2024 and June 14, 2024, and weights between 3.12 and 3.52 kg. If one of these images goes to the family group chat, the wrong birth date goes with it.
Open Eyes, Moles and Hair: How to Keep Your Baby Looking Like Your Baby
Say "newborn photoshoot" and the model pictures a sleeping baby. Our open-eyed baby was drawn asleep in 3 of 12 tries with the short prompt; two of those came from Flash, one from Lite. Once Prompt 4 said the eyes were open and looking at the camera, the eyes did not close in any of the 12 tries.
Marks got lost less often. The cheek mole was in place in 24 of 24 images, and the short prompt left it alone too. The two pink spots were on the forehead in every image, but their number changed. If your baby has a spot, a mole or a birthmark, write how many there are and which side they're on as seen by the viewer; if one drifts, say where it belongs in a second message.
In our posts about adults, we measure face similarity with OpenCV's SFace model; the same-person threshold is 0.363. Here our two different test babies scored 0.62 against each other. Since the score can't tell newborns apart, we checked the baby's likeness one mark at a time: spots, mole, hair and skin tone. Zoom in on the face in your own result and check these marks too.
Newborn Photoshoot Concepts: Basket, Crescent Moon, Froggy Pose

| Concept | Prompt | What we described | In the test |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cream swaddle | 1, 2 | Swaddle color, plain backdrop, light direction | 12/12 with no text and no accessories |
| Wicker basket | 3 | Baby's size and basket scale | 6/6 natural scale |
| Mom and dad's hands | 5 | How many hands, which hand goes where | 5 images: three hands 5/5, correct placement 3/5 |
| Family portrait | 6 | Who is on the left, who is on the right | 6/6 correct order |
| Froggy pose | 9 | Chin on hands, blanket | 6/6 images, 4/6 classic pose |
| Crescent pillow | 10 | Number of clouds, background color | 5/6 exactly three clouds |
| Feet detail | 11 | Two feet, two hands, wedding band | 6/6 |
In the froggy pose the baby seems to be propped up, chin in hands, elbows on a pillow. A newborn cannot hold their head up in this position. Photographers build this shot from two photos: in one an assistant holds the baby's head, in the other the wrists, and the hands are removed afterward. Gemini draws the image without anyone touching the baby; do not try this pose with a real baby at home.
The side position is just as dangerous as the stomach position, partly because your baby can roll more easily onto their stomach when they are placed on their side.
The side-lying and tummy poses in these prompts are studio photo poses. They say nothing about how a baby should sleep. The AAP recommends placing a baby on their back for every sleep, naps and nighttime alike. When AI makes the image, you don't need to put your baby in these poses; laying the baby on their back while you take the photo is enough.
Which Gemini Model? Flash-Lite, Flash or Pro
| Selected in the app | Image model | Median time | Watch out for (from the test) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flash-Lite | Nano Banana 2 Lite | 5.7 s | One bald baby, quotation marks on a card once, four clouds once, closed the eyes once |
| Flash | Nano Banana 2 | 10.1 s | Closed the eyes twice; 3 requests with no image (filter, doctor suggestion, empty response) |
| Pro | Nano Banana 2 (on paid plans, redo with Pro) | 18.3 s | Thinned the hair in two images; 1 refusal over the word "naked" |
According to Google's help page, on an account without a plan, images are made with Nano Banana 2 Lite when the model picker is on Flash-Lite and with Nano Banana 2 when it is on Flash or Pro; on a paid plan, Nano Banana Pro is available through the option to redo the image with Pro. Downloads are 2K on accounts with a plan and 1K without one. If you plan to print the newborn image, 2K is a reasonable start; a large wall print needs extra upscaling.
Common Newborn Photoshoot Prompt Mistakes
- Asking for a birth card or letter blocks without giving the text. The model makes up the date and weight and often adds a time.
- Writing "bare head." Two models drew a bald baby; write "no hat on the head, the hair is visible" instead.
- Choosing a "sleeping" concept for a photo of a baby with open eyes and saying nothing about the eyes.
- Using the word "naked" in the prompt. It can trip the filter; describe the blanket or the cloth.
- Leaving out the spots and the mole. They held up with the short prompt too, but if their number drifts, you won't know what to fix.
- Seeing an AI result and then trying a studio pose like the froggy pose with a real baby.
Baby Photos, Privacy and Turning a Photo Into a Video
Your baby's face is data about an identifiable person under the definition in Article 3 of Turkey's personal data protection law (KVKK, Law No. 6698), and the decision is yours. According to the Gemini privacy hub, trained reviewers read some chats, and reviewed chats are kept for up to three years even if you delete your Gemini activity. The help page asks plainly: don't enter information you wouldn't want reviewers to see. Instead of typing the baby's full name, birth time and hospital details into the chat, write only the part that will appear on the card.
You must be 18 or older to edit images in the Gemini app. Turning a newborn image into a video is a separate matter: the developer documentation for Veo, Google's video model, says person generation for image-to-video only works with the setting that allows adults only. The Omni documentation also says that uploading and editing images that include children is not supported in the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. If you want to animate your baby's photo, expect from the start that it may be refused.
Upload a sharp photo of your baby taken from above to Gemini and paste Prompt 1 from this post. In the test, 6 of 6 tries gave a studio shot with a cream swaddle and no text.
No. We ran the tests with the original Turkish versions of all 11 prompts, on three Gemini image models on October 30, 2026. The English prompts here are translations that keep the same structure and details. In that Turkish test, a card text with Turkish letters ("MY FIRST MONTH" in Turkish) came out right in 6 of 6 tries.
In the test, the spots, the mole and the hair were mostly kept; the cheek mole was in place in 24 of 24 images. If you name each mark and its location in the prompt, anything that drifts is easier to fix in a second message.
A photo taken from above in daylight that shows the baby's whole face. You don't need to lay the baby on their side or tummy for it; the prompt sets the pose.
If you don't give the card text, the model fills it in itself. With a short prompt, all 10 cards had a made-up date and weight, and 9 had a time. Give the lines in quotation marks (Prompt 7).
In the test, 4 of 114 requests came back without an image: one because of the word "naked," one from the safety filter, one with a doctor suggestion about the spots, and one empty response. Change the wording and try again. The account also has to belong to a user who is 18 or older.
If you made your pregnancy photos the same way, write the same background color in both prompts so the two images sit well side by side, for example "a plain light beige fabric all the way to the edges". After the first month card, use Prompt 8 every month with the same blanket and the same light, and the twelve images will look like one series.
